One of the big announcements out of Lotusphere is about all the new Sametime enhancments and the connectivity to some of the big public IM networks such as AIM, Yahoo and Google (notable exception MSN). I wrote about this inevitable trend in October with some specific allusions to the features Sametime brings to the table as an enterprise IM system providing credibility and authoritative identification. I'm glad IBM has reponded to those of us who have told them how important the public network connectivity was. Sooner would have been nice, but of course, I understand that negotiations with big companies take time.
